About the Speakers

Tammy Trefny, CMB headshot

Tammy J. Trefny is Fannie Mae’s Senior Manager of Customer Approval & Onboarding within Fannie Mae’s Counterpary Risk Oversight Single-Family Mortgage Business group. Her role includes managing the team that works with lenders interested in getting approved as a seller/servicer with Fannie Mae. She has been with Fannie Mae for 22 years.

Prior to coming to Fannie Mae, Tammy was the Loan Originations and Processing Manager at Morgan Stanley Credit Corporation. She has been in the mortgage industry for a total of 33 years and has a strong background in Customer Relationship Management, Business Development, Sales, Originations, Underwriting and Credit Risk. Tammy is a graduate of Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Illinois, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is also a Certified Mortgage Banker having received her CMB designation in 2019.

Sermsee Kerner is a Customer Relationship Manager for Fannie Mae. She has diverse experience in the mortgage industry—starting in Loan Servicing at a Savings and Loan. Before coming to Fannie Mae to manage customer accounts, Kerner held lead and management roles at mortgage companies and banks in Mergers & Acquisitions, Loan Processing/Underwriting & Funding Operations, Secondary Marketing Hedging & Trading departments and Correspondent Lending Sales teams. Kerner currently works in the Customer Approval and Onboarding team in the Single-Family Credit Risk Organization.

Sean is a Senior Account Manager at Fannie Mae. He has worked in the residential mortgage lending field for over 20 years, starting as a loan officer in 1993 for a large national lender based in the Washington, DC area. He spent the next 7 years working in sales, loan manufacturing and secondary marketing. In June of 2000, he accepted a position with Fannie Mae as a member of their Capital Markets team and spent the following two years working with lenders to assist them with their liquidity needs. He then moved on to help Fannie Mae develop their Affinity Strategy Team and worked with many of the national trade associations and their members. During the mortgage crisis, Sean transitioned to the mortgage technology sector, working with technology service providers who were focusing on improving the borrower experience. He rejoined Fannie Mae in the fall of 2012 where he has been working with customers in the New England market.
