About the Speakers

Dave Stephens - Headshot
David H. Stevens, CMB (Dave) is the CEO of Mountain Lake Consulting, Inc. Dave is a 38 year veteran of the mortgage banking industry. He previously served as the President and CEO of Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and prior to this role, Dave served as the US Assistant Secretary of Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner at HUD. Dave has served in a variety of key industry leadership roles prior to his work in Washington, including as President and COO of the Long & Foster Real Estate Companies, Inc., EVP of Wholesale Lending at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, SVP in charge of Single Family Lending at Freddie Mac, and Group SVP at World Savings Bank. Dave currently sits on the Board of real estate investment trust Dynex, Inc. Dave works on advisory projects in real estate finance and provides technical and strategic consultation to financial institutions and intermediaries.


Scott Olson - Headshot
Scott Olson is Executive Director of the Community Home Lenders of America (CHLA) and has been in this role since the organization was founded in 2012. Before that, Scott spent 20 years working on Capitol Hill, 15 on the House Financial Services Committee, where he was Housing Policy Director, Democratic Staff. Before that, he spent five years as Legislative Director and Budget Associate for Rep. Bill Orton (D-UT). Scott also has 6 years private sector experience as a public finance investment banker, and 4 years in commercial real estate finance and investments. He has an MBA from UCLA and a BA from Stanford University.
